ptable.gif

The periodic table is a chart of all the known elements.

The periodic table is composed of elements, periods, groups, blocks, metals, nonmetals, metalloids, and families.

Periods are the horizontal rows of elements on the periodic table.

Groups are the vertical columns of elements on the periodic table.

The four blocks are the S-Block, D-Block, P-Block, and F-Block

Metals are elements that are lustrous (shiny), bendable, and are good conductors of heat and electricity.

Nonmetals are elements that tend to be dull, not bendable, and are poor conductors of heat and electricity.

Metalloids are elements that have properties of both metals and nonmetals.

Families are alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, other metals, semiconductors, halogens, other nonmetals, and noble gases.

"If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps, it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away." -Henry David Thoreau.
